Rocky's
About This Spot
Stepping into Rocky’s is like being gently transported to an intimate family gathering, where the rhythms of a cozy 1960s kitchen hum quietly in the background. Nestled in the heart of Rochester, this Italian spot embraces you with its warmly worn wooden details and the steady buzz of genuine conversation. The atmosphere unfolds slowly here, inviting you to settle in without rush, as if you’re among old friends sharing stories over plates passed across a familiar table.
The dining rooms have a comforting, lived-in charm—small and unpretentious, with a bar that beckons both locals and newcomers to linger over a glass of Merlot or a carefully poured soda. It’s a place where the past feels present, evoking the comforting nostalgia of a Brooklyn neighborhood trattoria, yet entirely rooted in its own community spirit.
At Rocky’s, the menu is an unfolding story of Italian tradition lovingly prepared with a nod to home cooking. The generous baskets of Italian bread set the tone, welcoming you to dive into classics like handmade ravioli, rich meatballs, and velvety gnocchi that speak directly to the heart of comfort. Plates arrive with an unpretentious generosity, each bite carrying the warmth of slow-simmered sauces and the simple pleasures of well-seasoned dishes.
This is not a place for the hurried diner but for those who appreciate the moments in between—the shared smiles with hosts who treat you like family, the casual clinks of glasses, and the occasional friendly banter. While the space is modest, the spirit is abundant, marked by a quiet pride in serving honest, heartfelt food that has kept patrons coming back for generations.
Whether you find yourself seated near the corner bar or nestled in one of the dining rooms, Rocky’s offers a grounded experience that celebrates the beauty of familiar flavors and human connection, all against the comforting backdrop of a true neighborhood treasure.

Amazing locally owned Italian restaurant. They're extremely hospitable and make fantastic food. They are cash only but do have a ATM there too.

Did kinda feel like family there. Hostess and waitress were great, enjoyed our meals, certainly can't beat the price. Small main dining room right out of 60's. Reminiscent of grandma's kichen. Two other dining rooms including bar as you walk in. Hope they're around for another 75 years! Friday evening dinners do tend to run out of some soups and entrees by 5:30.

We went to Rocky’s for the first time today and I’m so glad we did. The food is so good my son enjoyed the cheese raviolis and I had a piece of sausage in the best sauce I’ve ever tasted. The waitresses do a great job and are very pleasant. Everyone is so friendly and treats you like family! We will be back I’m gluten free that’s why I only had a salad and Italian sausage in sauce.

Rocky’s transports you back in time and to Brooklyn. A must experience for Italian food. We had the Saturday pasta, homemade Ravioli. I had a meatball upgrade on mine that was also excellent. Cash only, but they have an ATM.

Old school, no frills Italian restaurant. This place was open in the 1960s, and I'm sure more than a few Mafia have enjoyed a meal here. The menu is limited, but everything is very tasty. Specials rotate every day of the week. Nonna is still cooking in the back. If you are adventurous, thier Tripe is the best I have ever had, anywhere, end-of-story. The red sauce is perfectly balanced, the meatballs have a great texture and I've only had the white clam sauce once, but it was very meaty, and flavorful. A big plus is the free bread, which is what I consider a great Italian bread to be. Fairly dense, with a nice crunch on the crust. It soaks up the extra sauce very well. None of this airy fluff with soft crust that some places try to pass off as an Italian bread. Might as well serve wonder bread. Don't forget, Rockys is CASH ONLY!

I have never been here. I just saw this on Facebook Rocky‘s Italian restaurant. I love Italian food and I am absolutely going to make the drive from Oswego New York to Rochester to go here. It looks fabulous. I can’t wait to go.
